Scientists edit disease-causing gene mutation in human embryos

Scientists are getting one step closer to snipping inherited genetic diseases out of human offspring using a gene-editing technique called CRISPR.

Chinese doctors experiment with making genetically-modified HIV-proof human embryos 

A team led by Yong Fan, a researcher at Guangzhou Medical University, tried to make human embryos resistant to HIV (right) by editing a gene called CCR5. This has only occurred once before.
